Most people are aware of the body’s blood vessel system that carries our vital blood around our bodies. There is another vessel system that many are not aware of, the lymph system. The lymph system is a vital part of our bodies that removes cell waste, proteins, excess fluids, viruses and bacteria from the body. The function of the lymph is to pick up fluids and waste products from the spaces between our cells and then filter and clean out the waste.
The lymph system is a network of tiny vessels and lymph nodes. These vessels contain a fluid called lymph that contains lymphocytes – little Pac-Man like cells that attack and destroy bacteria, viruses and even cancer cells.
When the lymph system works well we feel healthy and have a strong defense against illness and disease. When our lymph is not flowing freely we feel sluggish and blocked. Signs of a blocked lymph system can be feeling tired, swelling, and frequent colds and infections.
What Is Lymphatic Massage?
Lymphatic Massage is a specialized type of bodywork that helps the lymph system to do a better job of clearing out the waste. By using very light pressure and a rhythmic, circular motion the massage can stimulate the lymph system to work more efficiently and move the lymph fluids around the body.
Lymph massage can be a benefit to just about everyone! if you are feeling tired, low on energy, have any swelling or if you have been feeing sick it maybe time to schedule a lymph massage.
